Introduction
Hair growth supplementation is a fast-expanding market. Hair health has been somewhat neglected by the majority of the public, but thanks to social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram, more and more people are realizing that healthy looking hair is as important as healthy-looking skin or healthy nails.
But as with everything in the health industry, not all supplements are created equal. If you’re reading this article, then chances are you’re looking to find out whether HairFlair is the supplement for you.
In this HairFlair review we will be taking an in-depth look into the formula, assessing the claims made by NutraChamps (the creators) and helping you to decide for yourself whether HairFlair is the right choice or not.
What Is HairFlair?
NutraChamps is a US-based supplement company that has a huge range of products for sale. Though their website gives no information about where they are based, they have a “proudly made in the US” badge on their about page. A little more clarity from NutraChamps would not go amiss.
You can purchase HairFlair from Amazon or from the NutraChamps website. Though the NutraChamps website redirects all sales to Amazon anyway! A pack of 60 capsules costs $21.99 and the instructions are to take two capsules per day, so 30 servings for $21.99. This works out at around $0.37 per capsule and $0.73 per serving.
You’re basically looking at a month’s supply of HairFlair for $21.99 and NutraChamps recommends taking their product for 6-8 weeks before expecting to see any results. You’re probably looking at three to four months at the very least. If you took HairFlair for 120 days (around 4 months) you’d pay $87.96. However, if you are not happy with the results, NutraChamp offers a 100% money back guarantee
The product is clearly marketed at women, with lots of pictures of glamorous long-haired women on their website. But if you delve into the frequently asked questions section, you can see that HairFlair is designed to help both men and women, and for all hair types.
HairFlair is designed to help you grow “Longer, stronger, and healthier hair”. But instead of just treating your hair from the outside (like a shampoo or conditioner would) HairFlair “addresses the root issue from within”. This is because most hair issues are a reflection on your diet and health, rather than your haircare routine (though this can also affect your hair).
It also claims to treat all hair types: “thick, straight, fine, wavy, coarse or curly – caring for your hair from the inside starts now!”.
Hairflair claims to help you grow beautiful, radiant hair that is stronger, longer, and ultimately healthier. It does this through a scientifically formulated ingredients list that contains over 20 hair nutrients.
Does Hairflair Work?
It’s difficult to say whether HairFlair works or not, it contains a lot of useless ingredients, or ingredients that work when topically applied (for example, coconut oil may help to improve hair health when used as a shampoo [1] – but not necessarily when consumed as part of a pill).
But there are some ingredients that may help. So, on the one hand there are a bunch of superfluous ingredients that have no business being in a hair supplement. On the other hand, the product may still help to do what it says.
This is a pretty common issue with supplements, a throw everything at the wall and see what sticks approach. We’re not really sure whether this is a bad thing or a bad thing.
The Pros & Cons Of HairFlair
In this section we have broken down what we like about this product and what we don’t like about it.
The Pros
- Contains keratin, there is some evidence that keratin supplementation may help to improve hair strength and elasticity. It may also reduce hair loss.
- Contains biotin. If you are suffering from biotin deficiency, then adding biotin to your diet could help to prevent hair loss.
- Contains collagen that may help to prevent hair follicles being damaged
- Pantothenic acid may help treat thinning hair [2], but more evidence is needed before we can say for sure.
- Decent price per capsule and per serving
The Cons
- There is not enough evidence that keratin supplementation has any effect on hair health, it could very well be a dud ingredient
- Biotin is only useful if you are deficient in biotin. This is quite rare. If you have adequate biotin levels already then supplementation will do nothing for your hair
- There is not enough evidence that collagen can improve hair health. More research is required
- The Plant-Based HairFlair Complex appears to be completely useless. None of the ingredients within it have any benefits for hair health.
- The ingredients list is overly large, and it feels like some ingredients have been randomly added
What Are The HairFlair Ingredients?
Here is a breakdown of the ingredients contained within HairFlair:
One 2-Capsule Serving Contains: Vitamin A 8000 IU, Vitamin C 100mg, Vitamin D3 100 IU, Vitamin B1 5mg, Vitamin B2 5mg, Niacin 5mg, Vitamin B6 5mg, Folate 200mcg, Vitamin B12 200mcg, Biotin 5000mcg, Pantothenic Acid 100mg, Calcium 100mg, Zinc 10mg, MSM 400mg, Collagen Hydrolysate 400mg, Hydrolyzed Keratin 50mg, and Proprietary Blend 150mg (Aloe Vera, Bamboo Extract, Nettle Extract, Coconut Oil Powder, Grape Seed Extract).
There are a lot of ingredients contained within HairFlair, which is not always a good sign, especially when it comes down to producing a cost-effective product for consumers.
In this case, there are a lot of ingredients that we don’t really think needed to be included. For example, the formula contains coconut oil powder, however there is no evidence that coconut oil powder can improve hair health when taken orally.
Is HairFlair Safe?
For the most part, HairFlair is a completely safe supplement. The only potential issue would be the keratin. Taking too much keratin can cause harm to your body, so make sure that if you are taking HairFlair that you are not taking any other keratin-containing supplements.
You may have heard of the dangers of keratin treatment for pregnant women, but this is mostly associated with breathing in keratin products that are used in topical keratin treatments in salons. Consuming keratin orally does not cause the same risk.
HairFlair Suitable for Everyone?
We believe that yes, this product is suitable for the vast majority of people; anyone with hair on their head could potentially benefit from taking HairFlair.
That being said, NutraChamp itself states that pregnant women may want to avoid their product, or to at least consult with a doctor beforehand.
What Are The HairFlair Side Effects?
We’ve compiled the following potential side effects based on the ingredients inside this formula:
- Upset stomach
- Increased fluid retention
- Sweating
- Diarrhea
- Hives or rash [3]
Note: these side effects are possible but may not be the typical user experience.
Are There Any HairFlair Reviews from Customers?
There are a few customer reviews on the HairFlair website, and many reviews on Amazon where the product averages a score of 4.4 out of 5 stars from 425 customer reviews:
HairFlair is a miracle, it not only improves hair health, but also improved my nail and skin health
My hair is growing, it is healthier, shinier, and I have noticed fewer split ends
After three months I still haven’t noticed a huge difference in hair thickness, but there has been some improvement. But my hair looks healthier and has more elasticity
Our Final Verdict on HairFlair
HairFlair has a couple of ingredients that may well improve hair health, strength, and elasticity. But there is not enough evidence to say for sure. Anecdotally, through Amazon reviews etc … HairFlair does appear to work. Though it is important to understand that anecdotal evidence can be deceiving at times, particularly when it involves supplements.
Many people claim it is working because they feel that they are losing less hair while brushing. But unless they’re counting the hairs each time (and we don’t recommend that anyone wastes as much time as this), it’s basically guesswork and potentially the placebo effect.
HairFlair is sold at a reasonable price, but NutraChamp do point out that it can take six to eight weeks to see a difference. So, it could potentially end up being quite an expensive mistake. They do offer a 100% money back guarantee, but after eight weeks you would have used two bottles. It is not clear whether they would refund both packs or not.
It’s difficult to make a recommendation here. Because we really can’t be sure whether HairFlair works or not. You’ll have to go with your gut instinct here. At just $21.99 for 30 days supply it maybe worth a go, but we cannot guarantee results. If you are going to give it a go, then we would recommend following it through properly, six to eight weeks of supplementation, two packs, $43.98, and a potential refund if you’re not happy.
